It is a project that seeks to empower families living in tenements housing downtown in Medellin, Colombia, with tools that support the development of human potential and counteract the perpetuation of the physical, human and spiritual poverty.It aims to reduce situations of abuse, and reduce vulnerability in children living in the tenements located in downtown Medellin, aged between 6 and 12 years.
Sare micro worlds of four walls, where families place everything they have: the family sleep, cook, play, use the dining room and even organize their clothes in one bedroom. The tenement housing is a type of daily rental housing, unregulated, illegal and unlawful.The configuration characteristics of the tenement housing increase the risk factors for children and their families, common areas are limited, and designing and construction of critical areas such as bathrooms, patios, kitchens and windows, cause problems with ventilation, lighting, sanitation, and overcrowding in the building due to the high number of inhabitants per square meter.
¿WHAT IS THE STRATEGY?
Address the problem throughout four lines of actions:
Improving labor skills in parents or guardians, and guidance in family economy.
To follow up school counseling, nutritional, and psychosocial support to children of parents who receive training, or work support.
Raising guidance for adults, communication strategies, and conflict resolution in the family system.
Information and guidance of government benefits and paths to access productivity increase.
